Have you ever heard a band for the first time and thought, “man, I need to own everything they’ve ever recorded!”? That’s how we feel about Antlered Ant Lord, a lysergic garage-pop phenomenon led by Athens, Georgia-based singer, songwriter, and epic oddball Jesse Stinnard. Sadly, we must wait; Stinnard’s debut LP, Ostensibly Formerly Stunted (and on fire…), comes out November 20 on HTTBM Records.
Stinnard’s label describes his music as “the missing link between The Pixies and The Byrds if they’d been raised in the Appalachians.” That’s close to the mark. We’d add: “…and listened to Television Personalities all day long”.
Everything about this video (shot by Scott Creney of the band Tunabunny, for which Stinnard plays drums) perfectly suits the sound: ghostly, shaggy, off-sync, quicksilver, and transcendent. Everybody must get stoned!
