Video premiere: "Staring At The Sun" by Sarah Simmons

Sarah Simmons
13 July 2016

“‘Staring At The Sun’ was written in memory of a close friend who went too soon,” said songwriter and powerhouse vocalist Sarah Simmons of today’s premiere, the second single, and anthemic closer, of her upcoming debut album, Freedom. “It’s a depiction of loss, and finding peace through our pain. It pays tribute to all our loved ones who have gone too soon.”

Simmons, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, made it into the final eight on season four of the TV vocal competition The Voice, but don’t expect cheesy commercial pop — this song is an absolute, knockout, scorcher! Imagine the forceful fire of Ann Wilson, the shattering emotional resonance of Lisa Gerrard, and the arena-shaking dynamics of Robert Plant. We’ve got goosebumps!

Produced by Nashville pro Marshall Altman (Amy Grant, Citizen Cope) at House of Blues studio, Freedom comes out August 26. “Staring At The Sun” goes on sale this Friday. Here it is on Spotify and on Amazon.
