Video premiere: "This Fabric" by Citrine

Citrine
28 April 2016

Citrine is a Baltimore-based dream-pop trio comprised of vocalist Kelci Smith and guitarist Galen Smith (the married couple both played in the DC-based trio Kindlewood) and drummer Beau Cole (Lands & Peoples). Kelci is the sister of singer/guitarist Josh Tillman (a/k/a Father John Misty) and Zach Tillman, a/k/a Pearly Gate Music.

“This Fabric” is from Citrine’s debut EP, April, which was filmed and recorded live in Baltimore, and fittingly, came out April 22. Get it here.

“This video was created using free, limited resources and limited time,” said the band in a statement. “April and its accompanying live videos were recorded in a day and a half in an echoey cafeteria in a Baltimore, MD warehouse. It was mostly filmed on personal and borrowed iPhones, which were manned by friends who were paid in the form of food and whiskey. Projectors were also borrowed from friends and the projected videos were arranged by front woman, Kelci.”

For a bare-bones, DIY effort, the resulting video and recording (by Beau Cole) are impressive — and the song’s a delight, as well. Check it out!
