Once again, for those who greatly enjoy our Big Takeover Magazine print issues and this site (I hope that means you!), you might enjoy my weekly radio show too (new show every Monday), as I play a ton of stuff that is covered in our pages and here as well, both old and new:
This week’s show after a solemn trill of 1974 Big Star: Roddy Frame (new), Salem 66, Long Blondes, La Sera (new), Jimmie Rodgers, Conor Oberst (new), Cramps, Penetration, Upset, Maximo Park, The Beat (Paul Collins’), Split Single, Nomads, Guided By Voices (new), Slowdive, The Millions, Pains of Being Pure at Heart (new), The Steinbecks, and Kristin Hersh (new). Check it out, I think you’d like it!
This week’s amusing song is a touchstone pre-country classic of the 20s era, in this case a great (with yodeling) song by the singing brakeman, Jimmie Rodgers. Nuff said! Before there was rock n roll, there was early country, blues, and then early R&B.
Also, as I remind in this space every week (‘cause I think it’s important to reiterate), iif you want to hear any of my previous shows, you can go to my page on the site, and all 308 previous shows (and our several “Rabid Sessions show” can be heard at your leisure there as well!) Many hours of fine music, since we never repeat the same song twice!
Enjoy, ladies and germs!
