Once again, for those who greatly enjoy our Big Takeover Magazine print issues and this site (I hope that means you!), you might enjoy my weekly radio show too (new show every Monday), as I play a ton of stuff that is covered in our pages and here as well, both old and new:
This week’s show Tafter a nod to the 1962 Marvelettes: New Model Army (new!), Buzzcocks (new), La Sera, Drive By Truckers, George Jones, Martin Carr (new), New Pornographers (new), Goat (new), The Muffs (new), Cheatahs, The War on Drugs, Sad Lovers and Giants, Conor Oberst, The Clean, David Kilgour & the Heavy Eights (new), Slowdive, Syd Barrett, and Scud Mountain Boys. Give it a good listen! You might love it!
And for unusual older songs for you as ever to shake things up, check out George Jones covering the also immortal Hank Williams Sr from the early 60s (presaged by an awesome Drive By Truckers track affectionally admonishing Mr. Jones about driving and call calling after Mr. Jones’ original, fiery brush with death) and the old, old Syd Barrett track, both of them beseeching us from beyond the grave. And Sad Lovers and Giants from the original early 80s UK post-punk days, and Slowdive from the shoegaze era, and The Clean from the original Flying Nun revolution.
Also, as I remind in this space every week (‘cause I think it’s important to reiterate), iif you want to hear any of my previous shows, you can go to my page on the site, and all 317 previous shows (and our several “Rabid Sessions show” can be heard at your leisure there as well!) Many hours of fine music, since we never repeat the same song twice!
Enjoy, ladies and true gents! and scalewags and dips as well.
