This is, amazingly, the first released music by former Jawbreaker and Jets to Brazil vocalist/singer/guitarist/songwriter Blake Schwarzenbach since the last Jets to Brazil album, 2002’s Perfecting Loneliness. In that long wait, Blake seemingly quit music for a few years before forming the short-lived The Thorns of Life. Unfortunately, The Thorns of Life broke up last year before they had a chance to record anything. Fortunately, his new band has been around long enough now to record this four song double 7”.
Stylistically, it hews closer to later period Jawbreaker (particularly 24 Hour Revenge Therapy) or the 1st Jets to Brazil album Orange Rhyming Dictionary much more so than the last two Jets to Brazil albums and that is very good news for old fans. Since there is no lyric sheet, I’m not 100% sure what these songs are about, but this is quite enjoyable nonetheless. The double 7” also includes a download code, too!
