Germany’s (and possibly the world’s) premiere electronic Medieval fantasy band, QNTAL, use Romantic literature to expand their scope on the group’s seventh full-length.
Though the combination of elements may seem a bit silly at first, QNTAL VII actually succeeds without coming off as corny. Syrah’s soothing angelic voice passionately delivers poetry by Lord Byron, William Blake and even modern author Markus Heitz, as well as Mendelssohn and traditional French and Latin verses, driven by a gently pulsing background. The music, though rooted in dance, offers incredibly dynamic composition with a wide range of subtle changes rather than the typical thump that dominates the club scene. It’s an incredibly original work made by people who have the utmost respect for the artists they are assimilating.
By creating their own genre, QNTAL have remained free to do exactly what they want. Enter the cyberpunk Middle Ages and explore a magical new world.
