The ever-mysterious Martin Jenkins, aka Pye Corner Audio, reemerges under a new name with a series of ambient sonic textures that are as firm as they are fluid.
Bucolica is gentle, but powerful. Tones, space and pulses combine to create vast soundscapes of sonic nature. Forests, hills and seas materialize from the aural textures, bringing us deeper into an alternate world where melody becomes the scenery. Where the title track delves into dreamy krautrock territory reminiscent of Kraftwerk circa Autobahn, “Untitled Blacknisss” could be a funeral march and “Dark Lanterns” gives the impression of standing still while the world rushes past at lightning speed. These tracks are airy, organic, breathing full of life as they unfold, telling stories that can’t be said in words. The meanings are clear but unique to each listener.
