Thee mighty World War IX have weathered yet another lineup change and, honestly, have truly hit their stride with the absolute best grouping to date.
Clocking in at barely over eight minutes, the EP shows WW9 at their tightest, recalling Damaged-era Black Flag, especially in new vocalist Filthy Phil‘s hoarse delivery and the liberal use of group vocal chants. New bassist Brian Jackson adds tremendously to the group with his constantly running basslines – a more controlled Chuck Dukowski, if you will. As always, guitarist Justin Melkmann and drummer Jon Kleinman, the de facto core of WW9, turn in stellar performances proving, once again, that NY’s best hardcore punk band isn’t going anywhere.
So you like beer and songs that don’t last more than two minutes? Me too! So do World War IX, so pick up “Bender Royale” and see how many beers you can chug before it’s over!
