The Big Takeover has a special sonic treat for those of you who are visiting the site this weekend – a premiere on a Saturday – of a dangerously delightful, whirling, and rhythmic cha-cha-cha track called, appropriately, “On A Saturday” by PASTE-approved musical “wild man” J Hacha De Zola.

The Rahway, New Jersey–based artist defines the genre of his music as “Urban Junkyard”, a description that he’s been using over the course of three album releases. His next full-length, Icaro Nouveau, arrives in March 8th.

Produced by iconic engineer John Agnello, a career–long cohort of another “J” (J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr,) and most recently the man behind albums by Waxahatchee, the new Hacha De Zola songs are described by the artist as full of “villains, spells, desires, romance, danger, redemption, and revelations.”

The album track, “On A Saturday” is “more of me exploring some classic music forms in an attempt to subvert them in order to get them to feel like an ‘Urban Junkyard’ tune,” says Hacha De Zola. “I bend and twist them to my will – to suit me – to sound more like ‘Hacha.”“

Hacha De Zola continues, ““On A Saturday” has a strong Latin feel to it. It’s basically a toxic cha-cha-cha of sorts! It’s a bit of a ‘party tune,’ but one of consequence, of a certain foreboding, a Saturday night charade where I’m searching for the heart of Saturday night knowing full well that it may lead to a potentially toxic and debauched place.”
