Paging Matthew McConaughey: NYC punk-rockers Moral Panic are streaming “T-Rex,” a new song that sounds an awful lot like an homage to his McConaughey’s character David Wooderson in the classic comedy Dazed and Confused. Today, the Big Takeover exclusively streams the “White Knuckles” B-side before the 7-inch sees the light of day Friday.
Guitarist/vocalist Daniel Kelley of Moral Panic exclusively told the Big Takeover that “T-Rex” is “about that dude that graduated high school five years ago but still throws parties at his parents’ house when they are outta town and still brags about the glory days.”
All right, all right, all right … hear it for yourself right here:
For the uninitiated, Moral Panic features former and current members of Livids, the Heroine Sheiks and Overdose. They describe themselves as having “wild-eyed punk-rock fury, garage-rockin’ guitar tones and an ironclad rhythm section.”
“White Knuckles” was recorded by Joe Hogan (Ronnie Spector, Murphy’s Law). However, audiophiles with an affinity for another engineer-who-would-rather-not-be-called-an-engineer, Steve Albini, would be remiss to miss the vinyl version of “White Knuckles,” as it contains a cover of Big Black’s “Colombian Necktie.”
To that end, if you’re feeling extra panicky, pick up one of the “White Knuckles” 7-inches right here.
