Teleportal formed in 2015 and are releasing their experimental debut album Devour on October 18th. The LP was recorded with Doug McBride (Veruca Salt, Smashing Pumpkins) at Gravity Studios in Wicker Park, Chicago.

The music project is a collaborative effort of several musicians who have all played in other bands: Johnny Rossa (vocals) was a member of Sulaco, The Last Supper, and Lexington Queen, Beth Liebling (vocals, bass) was in Hovercraft on Blast First / Mute and Schema on 5 Rue Christine / Kill Rock Stars, James Bourland (guitar) has enlivened The Electric Ghost Gypsies, Kelley Ahlstrom, and Dirty Darlings, Ric Peterson (drums on Devour) contributed to Hovercraft and Schema, and James Bowersox (drums live) was in The New Free Radicals and Moth.

Exploring different sounds and recording techniques, Rossa brings the listener into his otherworldly sonic realms; some bright and beautiful, while others dark and unnerving. Liebling wants to dive in low end with a constant beckoning bass line rumble. The pair eventually added Bourland on guitar and Peterson on drums. Bourland added a landscape of sonic exploration with an ever-growing pedal board. He creates unique sounds and constantly evolving textures. Peterson has a unique style all his own, more like a galloping horse than a click-track pro.

The Big Takeover is pleased to host the premiere of the mesmerizing“The Organizer”, a slow-burning number that shoots off fireworks on the chorus sections. Rossa’s soulful, impassioned vocals yearn and burn amid a growing bonfire of sound that crumbles to smoldering embers before rising again like a phoenix from the ashes.

An added, and unusual, bonus is the psych-guitar freak-out at the end of the song – so stick around. You don’t want to miss a second! Liebling gives a hint about the intent of the track, stating, ““The Organizer” is about embracing transformation through making ourselves vulnerable.”

“The Organizer” will be released on August 23rd. Pre-Order the track at iTunes

The Pre-Order for Devour will be coming soon.
