Largely influenced by bands from the first shoegaze wave of the 90’s (Swervedriver, Pale Saints), as well as American space-rock acts of the same era like Failure and Hum, Francis Berthelot, Jean-Philippe Laforge, Philippe St-Laurent and Stéphanie Vézina formed Jet Black in 2008 in Quebec, Canada. The band’s first album, 2011’s Escape Measures, caught the discerning ear of Big Takeover founder/editor Jack Rabid, who praised its “nasty yet cool killer crunch, lift-off and bellowed choruses” and “charging, riffing authority that makes every song stand-up.”
Three years later, Jet Black returns with a spectacular follow-up. Like its predecessor, In Paradox is marked by the sound of the ’90’s while being also influenced by such like-minded contemporaries as The Life and Times and Cave In. It’s a killer album, and we are thrilled to be present the exclusive, world premiere of In Paradox.
Jet Black will release In Paradox on vinyl, CD and iTunes on September 1.
