Describing music of great power and expanse as “cinematic” can be fitting, if often overused. When it comes to the music of Tokyo’s Sundays and Cybele, it’s appropriate — and not just because the band took its name from a classic of French cinema.
The brainchild of Tokyo-based multi-instrumentalist Kazuo Tsubouchi, Sundays and Cybele produce an explosive, kaleidoscopic sound, both heavy and heavenly. “Black Rainbow” is the opening track of the band’s upcoming album, Heaven, due out July 31 on Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records) and it’s a killer. Psych fans, crank it up and bliss out!
