“We had this guitar line knocking around for months,” says Wormburner frontman Hank Henry of this rockin’ new song from the NYC band’s upcoming third LP, Pleasant Living in Planned Communities.
“[Guitarist] Paul McDaniel came up with it, and he would play it in the studio whenever he was plugging in and adjusting his levels,” continues Henry, whose well-crafted indie-rock anthems have earned accolades from coast to coast. “So we built a song around it, one of several on this particular LP about a soldier returning home from war. The soldier is trying to re-connect with his old girlfriend. Or maybe it’s his ex-wife. Or even his sister. I’m not sure. But I like how the recording turned out.”
So do we! Fans of The Hold Steady and The Mountain Goats, lend this your ears.
Pleasant Living in Planned Communities comes out September 30 on Dive Records. Wormburner celebrates with a record release show, a week from Friday at Mercury Lounge in Manhattan. Tickets are on sale now.
