It’s been just over a year since L.A.‘s The Fontaines kicked open the door with their self-titled debut, a snappy, swoon-worthy blend of classic ’60s pop (think Sam Cooke and Carole King) with zippy New Wave synths and guitars. Now they’re back with the follow-up, ii, an EP set for release this Friday. Belying its modest title, the four-song record is even more joyfully rocking than the first, with tracks like “Cold” (video) and today’s premiere, a stylistic mash-up of Roxy Music and The Cardigans that we just can’t stop playing. What fun!
