The Austin shoegaze/dreampop band get just a * bit * of an assist from their heroes on their latest engaging album that follows up their 2019 self-titled debut full length.
Elliott Frazier (Ringo Deathstarr) recorded, produced, and mixed the new LP, Mark Gardener (Ride) provided mastering services at his OX4 Sound studio in England (as well as mixed scintillating lament “The Fires”), and Miki Berenyi (Lush, Piroshka) added her dulcet and airy vocals to breezy lead single “Blame.”
Not that help was totally needed, as the two wife ‘n’ husband duos of Michelle Soto (guitar, vocals), Jacob Soto (drums), Christina Carmona (vocals, bass), and Noe Carmona (guitar) have an assured handle on swirling and sparkling guitar chime, buoyant, yet reflective ambience, melodic, quasi-amorphous (but actually carefully constructed) song structures, and bittersweet lyrics.
