Under his more common nom de plume, Time Moth Eye, dark folk minstrel Timothy (Stone Breath) delivers a massive work of music and art that fully displays the depth of his talent and passion for rebellion.
The first disc of Grave Needs presents an even starker image than his work with Stone Breath. Banjos, lyres, lutes, dulcimers and other acoustic instruments played by Timothy and a handful of collaborators create an organic space for his baritone to deliver metaphorical lyrics of revolution. Imagine walking through the remotest section of woods and finding a secret meeting of medieval anarchists plotting to overthrow the crown.
On the second disc, Middle Eastern drones, Arabic scales and Mediterranean mystery push further into darkness. Here, longer, more sinister tracks depict a realm of insurgent alchemy where the spilled blood of rulers becomes a magical essence.
Beautifully packaged in a 6×6-inch book containing lyrics and numerous illustrations, Grave Needs is far more than an album – it’s a political statement of revolt against those who would use us as subjects for their greed and power. Time Moth Eye’s war may be his own, but all are welcome to join.
