Maria Sherman is a Brooklyn, NY, resident who used to intern at The Big Takeover before staking her claim as a contributing writer — both print and online. She currently attends the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University where she studies Psychomusicality (a fictional word stolen from a Robert Jourdain book) which is a combination of musicology, psychology and language. When not slaving away at academic abstraction, she works at Beggar’s Group, doing certain odds and ends for your favorite Matador/Rough Trade/4AD/XL artists. Though younger than the career span of Pavement, she values vast knowledge of underground music history and the writers that can accurately portray this knowledge in their writing. Her passion lies in music journalism and hopes to continue the trek to reestablishing music criticism as a stark and meaningful (as well as existent) profession. And she doesn’t like buzzbands or the blogs that sustain their five-week careers.
