Winfield is a Chapel Hill, NC-based band that formed in early 2017. Their self-titled second EP came out on April 3rd and it’s a sonic leap forward from the frenetic post-punk/shoegaze of their 7 song debut GIANT.

The first two tracks, “With You” and “Simple Things,” showcase a darker, more intimate and experimental sound that emphasizes unconventional arrangements and the delicate interplay between the warm harmonies of singers Victoria Roy and Brad Prenda.

“Seconds” and “Contusion” are noir and raucous reminders that Winfield is at heart a rock band building on the strong foundation of alternative pioneers from the ’70s through the ’90s. The EP was recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Scott Solter (Spoon, St. Vincent, Mountain Goats, Superchunk).

Big Takeover is pleased to host the premiere of the restless and beguiling video for the driving to dreamy post-punk track “Seconds.” The video was mainly filmed by Kent Corley and Roy during the shelter-in-place time period in North Carolina, with some overlaid footage that Corley shot in NYC last fall.

Hazy, close-up images of Roy’s face float into view through the cool blue and violet-hued atmosphere. In keeping with the propulsive nature of the song, added footage of urban environment (industrial landscapes, city buildings, and on-the-go traffic) sweep by the eyes in a heady blur.
