Mitski – Auditorium Theatre (Chicago, IL) – March 22, 2023

On Friday, Mitski performed the second in a series of four sold-out concerts at Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre. The run of shows launched a new leg of touring in support of the celebrated songwriter’s seventh album, 2023’s The Land is Inhospitable and So are We. Mitski connected with a rapt audience by augmenting her emotive and personal material with theatrical presentation. Highlights of the set included torch song and Billboard #26 hit “My Love Mine All Mine,” with its fusion of arid country twang and orchestral pop. Older songs including “Happy” and “I Don’t Smoke” were deconstructed and rebuilt with daring and engaging new arrangements.
