Roddy Frame releases new single, readies first album in eight years

11 March 2014

Great news. Roddy Frame is already riding high on Domino’s deluxe reissue of his early ’80s stalwarts Aztec Camera‘s 1983 debut classic High Land Hard Rain (and his performing the entire album three times in England four months ago), but now comes the news that he will finally follow-up his superb artistic comeback ’00s albums (in my opinion), 2002’s Surf and 2006’s Western Skies with his first new studio album since. Expect Seven Dials May 5, and if the brand new pre-LP single “Forty Days of Rain” is any indication, it will continue to mine his considerable talents much as those two LPs did. The LP will appear on his old friend and original Postcard Records’ labelmate (from Orange Juice) Edywn Collins’ label AED, which sounds quite fitting besides. And a U.K. solo tour is imminent. No word on U.S. dates, though he hasn’t played here much over the last few decades, so it would be a pleasant surprise if that changed…
