Gigantic news from us! Our band Springhouse (all three original members plus modern fourth member Dave Burokas) is reuniting again to play for the first time in six years—special for the wonderful folks at the incredible Independent Project Records, for their 45th anniversary out in Los Angeles—and we’re totally honored to be asked.
Apart from one unique Kalamazoo, Michigan, Kalamashoegazer fest in 2018, when we were last kindly called out of our usual retirement (also so lovely of April and those folks), we haven’t played anywhere but the East Coast since 1993, so to play in California for us is both super rare and kind of astonishing. Heck, for us to play anywhere is actually both of those things, come to think of it. We’ve only come back for a limited time in 1994, 2002, 2008-2010 when our third LP came out, and 2018-19, so we had better start rehearsing!
And to play with THESE other artists?* How extra awesome. Holy moly. It’s a super small club, Gold-Diggers in East Hollywood, like the size of Maxwells (150-200 max), so if you want to see either night—we headline Wed. Nov 5 and play a shorter support slot on the 6th since we so rarely play and it’s so hard to get us out there!—best to get the tickets super soon, as I am guessing it will sell out? Maybe we will see you there!
And thanks to Bruce and all the IPR folks! They’ve been nothing but incredible to us this last year as they reissued that third LP. They’re like our patron saints, and not just us, either. What they have done for artistic music these 45 years! Just for introducing me/us to For Against and Savage Republic in the ’80s alone, for starters.. Other than one night with the kids last year, I haven’t been to L.A. since 2009, and I used to be there all the time. I’ve missed it! Anyway, exciting! Excited! What fun! What a lark. We will try to be good for everyone!
