Once again, for those who greatly enjoy our Big Takeover Magazine print issues and this site (I hope that means you!), you might enjoy my weekly radio show too (new show every Monday), as I play a ton of stuff that is covered in our pages and here as well, both old and new:
This week’s show, Tafter a D.O.A. refrain (R.I.P. Dave Gregg): Carsick Cars, Bubblegum Lemonade, Michael Head & the Red Elastic Band, Esquerita, [Vancouver 79 tribute: Private School, D.O.A., Dishrags, Young Canadians, Subhumans (Canada)], Cheatahs, Jimi Goodwin, Seasurfer, Fresh and Onlys (new), Nothing, New Model Army, Minor Alps, Blake Rainey & His Demons, HeadShy, and William Fitzsimmons. Tune in, it’s good!
This week the late ’50s acetate recording by Little Richard friend/competitor Esquerita is my favorite track this show. Make sure you dance around the room while he “rocks the joint” as it’s a real gas.
And again, R.I.P. Dave Gregg, late Private School and D.O.A. guitarist, etc, as he was a friend of mine from the dozen or so times D.O.A. stayed at my apartment on their tours in the ’80s, and I saw him once a year or so even of late. Bummer Bummer Bummer, there, but we celebrate the music of those two bands and their 1979 Vancouver contemporaries well in the set devoted to them this show, as well, I think.
Also, as I remind in this space every week (‘cause I think it’s important to reiterate), iif you want to hear any of my previous shows, you can go to my page on the site, and all 302 previous shows (and our several “Rabid Sessions show” can be heard at your leisure there as well!) Many hours of fine music, since we never repeat the same song twice!
Enjoys, ladies and gentlemen!
