Important note: In an extremely strange, bizarre coincidence, I found out the sad news of Emitt Rhodes’ death at age 70 right after I’d played his 1970 song to close this show! And it was a song of his called “Live Til You Die” at that!!!!! At Big Takeover, as ever, we never wait for the death of the true greats to value them and stop taking them for granted, so the lyrics to the tune are our basic philosophy, as noted in my remarks before playing it—but this is still so odd! May he R.I.P. and thanks for the superb music, and I will give him proper homage/eulogy on next week’s show; this week. (I just talk about our interview with him in Big Takeover a few decades ago.) I just wanted to let folks know this is why his death goes unmentioned on this broadcast, although he’d died the day before, apparently.]
