50 Ways to Kill Me is hardly a household name. As a one-man-band orbiting Long Island’s dwindling punk scene, making music on Fruity Loops and playing the occasional live show, sole-member JAY DECAY is even more of an oddity. After a slew of handmade releases followed by a four year break, Jay has returned to true form with his best laundry list of ridiculous ways to kill him since…well, since the last 50WTKM offering.
This time around, Jay has abandoned the computer program as his modus operandi for real instruments, all of which he plays himself (with the exception of MATT GARTMAYER‘s lead guitar on two songs and various guest vocal spots). The concept remains the same, however – 50 songs detail various silly ways to die, i.e., “Put My Head Through a TV and Watch Me,” “Gag Me With a Spoon Until I Hurl Up My Internal Organs,” “Feed Me to 130 Starving Cats,” “Have a Surfer Make Me a Noose So I Can Hang Ten,” etc., you get the idea.
Smirking, irreverent and tongue-in-cheek, this is for those who appreciate quirky humor with their hardcore along the lines of ADRENALIN OD, F.Y.P. and early GUTTERMOUTH.
On a side note, Jay Decay used to drum for the incredibly intense NYHC outfit, EYES OF HATE. (RIP AL OF HATE.) He now drums for OBNOXIOUS GAS.
