Veteran honky-tonker Jesse Dayton recently released a covers album that included a bracing down-home take on AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie.” Now, Corb Lund gets into the act with a fine covers EP of his own. In addition to sturdy versions of songs associated with The Eagles and The Band, the gifted Canadian country-rocker and his snappy group, The Hurtin’ Albertans, tackle another classic from the Australian hard-rock goons. Featuring additional vocals by folk legend Ian Tyson, of Ian and Sylvia fame, the sultry “Ride On” isn’t too far removed from AC/DC’s original. What’s next? Chris Stapleton doing “Back in Black”? Garth Brooks singing “Highway to Hell”? The mind boggles.
