From the “tribute band” obsessed enclave of Long Island, NY comes the unlikely spazz-rock Bangladeafy, a duo whose music twists in a tornado of various styles.
The Briefcase could be Big Business on a Heisenberg meth tear. Where The Molecules were the logical extension of The Minutemen, so Bangladeafy are the logical extension of The Molecules. The musicianship is absolutely superb, like a King Crimson LP played at 45, or Frank Zappa conducting The Ruins. Bassist/vocalist/keyboardist Johnny Germ plays with Les Claypool‘s ferocious dexterity, locking in with Atif Haq‘s syncopated, yet metronomic, drums. Vocals are spastic shouts, while the keyboards, for the most part, provide ambiance. It’s 15 minutes of some of the finest controlled chaos you’re sure to hear this side of a perfectly executed noise release.
Considering that this is only the duo’s second release, one can’t help but ask where they will go next. These are uncharted waters, captain. Best keep your sea legs afloat.
