Los Angeles, CA’s Dr. Boogie turn to ’70s hard rock for inspiration…and succeed!
Resting comfortably in a time warp that goes back forty years, these four rock’n‘roll delinquents strut with a swagger that conjures The Whiskey, Max’s Kansas City and The Roxy. “Get Back to New York City” sticks AC/DC, The MC5 and Hanoi Rocks in a blender without a top and lets it splatter all over the place. On “Down This Road,” the quartet shows there’s some depth with a smooth rocker that conjures The New York Dolls and Exile on Main St.-era Rolling Stones. It’s the band New York City has sought for ages, but missed simply because they’re on the opposite coast.
Good rock’n‘roll is hard to find, so cherish it when it rears its muddled head for a moment of greatness. Johnny Thunders would be proud.
