Do you wish Seaweed was still an active band or that Quicksand made more than two albums and a 7” back in the ’90s? Miss Mega City 4 and their late leader Wiz‘s later projects? Or wish that Title Fight would’ve continued the Swervedriver-influenced post-hardcore sound they started on their great 2013 7” Spring Songs? If any of the above is true, Out of Body may be your new favorite band. This self-released, four-song 2015 EP, now over a year old, is simply stunning. Lyrically, they’re not afraid to tackle controversial and sensitive topics, “Trigger Happy” examines the issues of violence and gun control as well as alluding to recent uses of excessive force by police murdering black men and women in recent years. Kudos to singer/songwriter Gjared Robinson for addressing important issues and not being afraid to speak out. The title track seems to address personal alienation while “Going Wrong” deals with conformity. Ending with the blistering instrumental “Standby,” this is a great record.
