This nicely packaged gem of a 7” is a real mind voyage laden with some tasty concrete/actuelle treatments just this side of “too cool” for serious electroacoustic chin-strokers.
Pas ’s side is indeed sunflowery, a sort of humid drone piece that transposes and wavers in and out of focus, choir pads and granulated melodies on distant shredded guitar, throat singing melisma wafting across the landscape. Pretty in a quasi-synthetic way and really gratifying.
m.m label head Thorsten Soltau ’s side has a bit more dynamic contour, beginning in obscured lower fidelity mist, like a scratched and dusty sound effects record, later to slip into treated and resonant percussives, bowl sounds, plinking synth-like. A drone invades and soft pads lift the ears into a soup of mingled and hushed German vocals that fades away with some warbling tones.
Two sides very distinct and satisfying in their very capable and playful composition, succinct and dreamlike. A terrific listen.
