I think my ass bones are just healing from bailing flat out in the moshpit at Scarlet Beast ‘s last show. That’s because I’m getting old, tabarnac… but I’m still moshin’ at least! With a stack of quality bands emerging out of the dank jam-squats of Montreal, it’s easy to wanna thrash happily around a bit. Scarlet Beast is some fucking picture perfect hardcore, crusty thrash, that probably sounds like a bunch of bands, but who cares, it’s thick, hard and ready and REAL. Some early Suicidal delivery, some charging blast beats, some classic DRI breakdowns, it’s full of joy and musical violence. Made up of pillars of the local punk/thrash scene, with former Jerk Appeal front man Ted on the mic, they are truly a savage band of miscreants, injecting skill and savvy into a scene that desperately needs it, showing the youngun’s how to slay and inspiring the slightly-less-than-youngun’s like yours truly to bust their ass in the pit!
