Like a darker, heavier Queens of the Stone Age or a meaner Wolfmother, Truckfighters updates classic rock for the 21st century. Fuzz, the Swedish power trio’s fourth album, floweth over with buzzing guitar tones, massive minor-key riffs and bassist *Ozo*’s soulful yowl. Tight grrr-rockers “Prophet” and “Mind Control” burst from the grooves like tigers out of the forest, while “Dream Sale” and “Get Lifted” stalk their prey a while before unleashing the claws. The band stretches out on “The Chairman” and especially “Mastondont,” letting the burly mammoth assuage its hunger on the finest hallucinogenic mushrooms. Truckfighters doesn’t try to change the world on Universe, or even the face of rock – instead it just kicks out the jams and has a fuzzy good time.
