This is absolutely one of the most painful slabs of vinyl I’ve ever endured. I’m gonna make it quick because, if I don’t, I’ll end up throwing my netbook at my turntable.
The A-side, “Party Savior,” is marked by horrible anthemic call-and-response singing, a guitar that sounds off key and production reminiscent of early Lookout! releases. “Thousandaire” on the B-side has more bad singing, a guitar that should have been tuned two songs ago and incredibly trite lyrics about succeeding as a band. “You say I’m born to lose, but baby I’m born to win.” Ugh. Hey guys, bands that write songs about how successful they’ll be rarely make it. Now where are my Heartbreakers and Motorhead albums to clear my ears…
Frankly, the entire release seems like something Plan-It-X would release, with poorly sung singalong anthems, mediocre musicianship and sparse production. Thankfully, it’s only two songs. I don’t think I could stomach any more.
