The A-side, “Blueprint to Nero” begins just like Fugazi‘s “Facet Squared” from In on the Killtaker, with that delayed feedback sound and the drums kicking in before an abrupt change that, for some reason, sounds like an emo version of Dramarama. As the song progresses, however, the actual meaning of “fugazi” becomes more apparent and it’s thankfully a rush to a quick end.
“Tempt of the Will” on the B-side isn’t any better. It takes a Black Heart Procession riff and adds morose Nick Cave-style lyrics to it. Yawn.
As much as I could take it or leave it, I’d rather leave it. There’s other stuff to spend money on that will actually knock my socks off.
