AJ Morocco: May 13, 2012

Ten under ten

Excluding sound clips, noises and other nonsense, these are some of the shortest songs in my collection.

  1. Gang Green – *uckin A

2 seconds. From “Another Wasted Night” on Taang! Records, 1986.

  2. Deerhunter – R

2 seconds. Self released in 2009 on their blog.

  3. GO! – Mom

4 seconds. From their 1990 WFMU session on June 21st 1990, released later on their “Root Canal” flexi and on CD as a Four Way Split with Headfirst, Citizens Arrest and Profax. I think it’s kind of incredible that almost all of Go!‘s songs were improvised.

  4. Olivia Tremor Control – The Sky Is A Harpsichord Canvas

Four seconds. From their 1999 collection, “Black Foliage”.

  5. Straight Ahead – Stand United

Six seconds long. From their 1986 demo tape.

  6. Crossed Out – Homegrown

Six seconds. Live on KSPC Radio in Claremont, CA. Later released on their CD discography.

  7. NYC Mayhem – Body Bags

Six seconds. From their 1985 demo tape and CD discography.

  8. 97a – Never

Ten seconds. From their 1996 “Better Off Dead” EP.

  9. Floorpunch – My Path

Nine seconds. From their “Goal Line Stand” demo tape and their “Twin Killing” CD on Equal Vision Records. I was at this show where this photo was taken, it was at Fieldsboro legion hall in New Jersey in January 1997. That guy on the front cover with the construction gloves is a good friend of mine Eron, he plays drums in Hawthorne Heights. I remember this day clearly because there were two incredible shows that day, first off was this one with Hands Tied and Last Straw and secondly was Devoid of Faith up in Lambertville at some VFW lodge.

  10. Void – Void

Ten seconds. From their “Sessions 1981-1983” CD and LP on Dischord Records. Essential!
