If you want to challenge one of the RIAA’s policies (threatening to become law as so many elected officials remain ignorant of the political, democratic stakes involved in this issue), one way is to contact www.savenetradio.org

  1. John Cusack – War Inc.

Heard an interview with JC. So much cooler than Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie on global warming. He goes against the war profiteering in the way TV would’ve before the Pentagon censorship was initiated in 1992.

  2. Melanie – The Good Book
  3. Rufus Harley – Kings and Queens
  4. Car Horn Organ – “New York, New York”
  5. Dixie Chicks – “Lubbock or Leave it”
  6. Swamp Dogg – ”Resurrection”
First heard on KPOO radio 89.5; Swamp Dog specifically asked that this song be debuted on March 6, 2007. Beautiful Stax Volt feel on the verses with passionate righteous, but never cloying, testimonial vocals before its more hip-hop chorus kicks in to then give an award to Carrie Underwood.
  7. Bobbi Gentry,
  8. Anthony Hamilton, “Sista Big Bone”
  9. Bill McKibben on The Thom Hartmann Show

McKibben’s organization, “Step It Up, ‘07,” may prove to be an ally. I like that he appeals to the feeling (however he uses spurious statistics to back it up) that more people in America are unhappy than they were in 1956, and attributes it to the fact that more people have less friends, because of the acquisitive material ‘progress’ that is sold us at the expense of basic trust and grassroots community building. Ah, nomad nation, etc….

  10. James Last, “Giant Man”

Because sometimes you just have to…(well, maybe YOU don’t…)
