Recent Review Favorites

Here are my favorite tracks from the albums I’ve reviewed over the past week on this website. The artists are in the order I reviewed them, with the songs in my order of preference.

  1. Blue Sausage Infant – “Flight of the Solstice Queens”

This second and title track to Blue Sausage Infant’s 14th (if my math is correct) album (Zeromoon) evokes a dark, sinister Neu! or even Faust or Can.

  2. Blue Sausage Infant – “Ashtray Man”

Noise rock in the style of The Cows or Butthole Surfers, especially after the vocals kick in.

  3. Blue Sausage Infant – “Radiant Arc”

    Spacey Krautrock bliss.

  4. Blue Sausage Infant – “The Sentimental Communist”

Very rhBand/Yen Pox sounding extended finale.

  5. Blue Sausage Infant – “Space”

    Reminiscent of CCCC‘s wall-of-static seizure-inducing sound.

  6. Neorev – “Force”

Frantic drum & bass using Arabic scales from Neorev’s debut, Lines & Shapes (Midi Bear/Norotek).

  7. Neorev – “The Stars Above Us”

Krautrock-y electronica in the vein of Kluster or Harmonia.

  8. Neorev – “No Turning Back”

Begins as a boss-battle soundtrack for some unspecified videogame, then segues into Krautrock ecstasy halfway through.

  9. Neorev – “Another Cloudy Day”

The final track of the album continues where “No Turning Back” left off – a dreamy come-down track.

  10. Neorev – “Oh No!”

Aggressive opener that recalls Lords of Acid and/or My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult.
