-
Tilly and the Wall – Bottoms of Barrels (Team Love)
The perfect spring record, you need to hear it!
-
The Takeovers – Turn to Red (Fading Captain Series)
The best of the three new Robert Pollard side project albums, and one of the more concisely rewarding Pollard albums in a long time.
-
Jason Anderson – The Wreath (K)
After you see someone in concert, and it’s a fantastic show, do you immediately go back to their albums and start playing them incessantly? I do.
-
The Microphones – Mount Eerie (K)
See comment for #3 above.
-
Thanksgiving – Thanksgiving (Marriage/PW Elverum & Sun)
See comment for #3 above.
-
Shearwater – Palo Santo (Misra)
A really ambitious album, much different than their music was in the past: much more challenging and exciting.
-
The Capstan Shafts – Springboard to the Box Wine Set (Yellow Mica)
One of the best CDs yet by this one-man pop-rock powerhouse. If you haven’t heard the Capstan Shafts yet, this full-length is an excellent place to start.
-
The Like Young – Last Secrets (Polyvinyl)
I haven’t been able to keep this one far out of reach for the last couple of months – it’s that fantastic, and its official release date is this week: May 9.
-
The Amazing Race (CBS, Wednesdays)
One of my favorite TV shows of all time, some kind of hybrid game show/travelogue/human behavior study. The current season’s coming to close in a couple weeks, so it’s getting exciting.

Six Feet Under Season Five DVD (HBO)
I’m one episode away from having watched the whole run of this sometimes great, always at least interesting show. This final season’s been quite good so far.
