Reading/Listening
An excellent German crime novel from the 1930s. Like an Agatha Christie story with a hard-boiled tone.
Glauser’s second novel, of five, is also great so far, though I’m just getting into it.
Coupland’s probably my favorite living novelist, and his newest book was very entertaining – an update on Microserfs but playful and goofier.
Gaitskill has an amazing way with language – the story and characters in this novel are interesting, but the way she writes is much more so.
A great collection that I’m slowly making my way through.
Intoxicating dream-pop ballads on the latest album from this excellent UK band.
A reissue worth noting – Spoon’s more ragged early recordings are fantastic.
I’m finally back into my project of listening to all my CDs in alphabetical order…and have been going through Nanci Griffith’s career. Four of the most rewarding of her albums are collected here.
Sure not Bowie’s peak, but I love at least the singles off this album, which I picked up on LP for $1.50 the other day.
Picked this up for $1.50 too – haven’t listened to it yet, but I’m excited to.
