Greg Bartalos: November 26, 2006

  1. The Damned – House of Blues (West Hollywood) – November 18, 2006

Great to see them 30 years on and still kicking.

  2. The Nomi Song – (NR)

Fascinating portrait of Klaus Nomi, a true one of a kind.

  3. Monty Oxymoron – Living My Life sdrawkcaB (Oxymusic)

Psychedelic workouts that tip their hat to the 60s and 70s.

  4. Don McGlasan – Warm Hand (Arch Hill)

A wonderful album that I picked up at the fabulous Big Takeover party that BT publisher Jack Rabid generously arranged.

  5. Public Enemy – It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (Def Jam)

Still packs a punch years later and stylistically adventurous too.

  6. The Street Dogs – “Fatty”

One of many highlights from the band’s latest effort.

  7. Shack – “Black and White”

    What guitar playing!

  8. The Electric Prunes – “I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night”

Even if you don’t like prunes, you’ll likely raise your glass to this.

  9. Ray Davies – Other People’s Lives (V2)

Davies proves that his songwriting skills and sharp societal observations are still intact.

  10. Thee More Shallows – “Monkey Vs Shark”

As I wrote in an earlier top 10: Moody, dark and subtle yet pin-point precise. This is one of my favorite new bands. Go to More Deep Cuts to hear this group in its element.
