  1. The Cars – _ Move Like This_ (Hear Music)

My 80’s pop heroes have returned. I’ll write a dedicated review of the disc shortly. For now, you can hear the entire album yourself here: http://stream.movelikethis.com/

  2. Charles BradleyNo Time for Dreaming (Daptone)

I saw “The Screaming Eagle of Soul” in Madison, WI a couple of weeks ago. In addition to tracks from this LP, Bradley reinterpreted Neil Young‘s “Heart of Gold” as a bona fide soul classic. Seriously, it’s the only version I ever need to hear. I’m glad Young wrote it, but Bradley nailed it to my heart. The track is available as a 45 that I need to pick up asap.

  3. DevoSomething for Everybody (Warner Brothers)

Bob GeldofHow to Write Popular Songs that will Sell

  4. Man, am I jealous of everyone who got to see Geldof’s band at SXSW. A lot of this material was made for concert performance.

  5. The Budos BandIII (Daptone)

The Budos backed Charles Bradley in Madison (see above), and then played their own set of menacing Afrobeat funk. Great fun.

  6. Daniel LanoisBelladonna

  7. The ChurchStarfish

I’m usually listening to more recent Church fare, but once in a blue moon I go back to the hit album that introduced me to the band. This does sound like the time it came from, but holds up extremely well regardless. Inspired guitar pop and great playing.

  8. Talk TalkLaughing Stock

Listening to this record is like visiting a best friend. Totally comfortable to my ears now, despite the fact that it’s so revolutionary in terms of what Talk Talk were doing when they made it.

  9. The ZincsBlack Pompadour (Thrill Jockey)

  10. John ColtraneA Love Supreme
