Ministry nominated for a Grammy!
This is the band’s second nomination – this time it’s for “The Great Satan” off of last year’s Rantology. Though it’s not one of their best, I hope they win anyways, just for having such a long and innovative career.

Psychotica – “Barcelona”
Beautiful song from their 1996 debut that feels a little like Love, Iron Maiden and Christian Death battling it out in an epic bullfight.
D’espairs Ray – “Garnet”
Sounds like they stole those synth bell sounds from Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Cities in Dust,” but they marry it with awesome, totally OTT goth-opera industrial-metal and dramatic, mournful vox (in Japanese) so I really couldn’t care less!
Bust, Feb/Mar 2006
Interviews with Peaches, Henry Rollins and Chicks On Speed, along with a great guide to London written by Ms. Alison Goldfrapp herself!
The L Word Season 3
I have never seen so much drama and so much sex squeezed into one TV show. God it’s good.
Machines of Loving Grace – “Burn Like Brilliant Trash (At Jackie’s Funeral)”
I’m rediscovering these electro goth rock guys – gotta love that early 90’s ‘alternative’ sound! (Great song title too.)
Anime Castle
Ok, I’m about to let you in on a HUGE secret. The biggest anime store in New York City is not in Manhattan, but tucked away out in College Point, Queens. They also have an
online store if you don’t have access to wheels.
Union Picnic/Union Star/Union Restaurant
Whatever this down-home-cooking diner/hipster hang in Williamsburg is called now, its chocolate peanut butter pie is still the best I’ve ever had. Yeah, I know eating isn’t very rnr, but i still love doing it. (577 Union Ave. 718-387-3800)
Schulz – “Love Will Tear Us Apart”
This cover starts out very similarly to Joy Division’s, but morphs into lightning fast arpeggiated riffing followed by a dirty funk groove. The guitars are by the band’s namesake, former KMFDMer Gunter Schulz, and the so-so vocals are by Jeff Borden.
Listen.
