Steve Martin on Saturday Night Live
Although the show will air after this list posts, I have faith that Steve will be as genius as usual. He’s already hosted the show 14 times, so it’s not like this is a new thing…
Electric Six – Senor Smoke (Metropolis)
I just got this, so I’m not making any final pronouncements yet, but so far, I’m quite pleased with this new record. There’s some funny stuff, some clever stuff, and some totally danceable stuff – all of which I’m looking forward to enjoying live when I see ‘em at Bowery Ballroom February 12th.
Skinny Puppy – “Pro-Test” Video
This video is basically Homeboys Vs. Spooky Kids in a breakdancing competition on the street. That’s right, a dance-off with a SP song as the soundtrack. Love to see what kind of dancing would go along with Too Dark Park...
Sleeper Cell (Showtime)
This is an excellent one season mini-series about a terrorist cell in Los Angeles that’s made up of a disparate group of Muslim men – one French, one Serbian, two American, and one mystery. It may glorify terrorism to some extent, but it’s nevertheless a searing look into this very hot topic.
Pipa
Aside from having resplendent tapas, Pipa also has some of the best decor (I’d call it Spanish-Gothic) that I’ve ever seen. Check it out at 38 E. 19th in Manhattan. (212) 677-2233.
New Moi Dix Mois Album Coming Soon
There’s a new album coming out March 1st from Mana’s post-Malice Mizer project. Probably no official US release, but there’s always imports!
Pauly Shore Is Dead (R)
This movie is so unexpectedly hilarious, and I was not really a fan before this. There’s guest appearances by a ton of the best comics out there and Shore really comes off as funny and likable. Weird…
Tokyo No Longer World’s Most Expensive City
That’s right, now Oslo is!
Countdown to D’espairs Ray Show
It’s incredibly rare for a visual kei band to come over to the US, so this show is going to be pretty monumental in that sense. Only 19 days left!
Countdown to The Sisters of Mercy Las Vegas Show
Only 12 days until I head out to Vegas to catch the first Sisters show of their first US tour in almost 7 years!
