Top 10 Flea Market vinyl finds!

Not of all time, just from the last week. Quebec has some really awesome flea markets in the countryside, where you can buy Cabbage Patch Kids, throwing stars and dildos at the same table! My wife and I went for a Sunday drive and dug some crates at a Marche aux Puces in the Laurentians, got lots of goodies (including a bag of 400 small plastic elks for 4$! That’s value.)
Here’s the best of what we hauled from the bins. Total spent: 10$.

BY THE WAY, this is my last top 10 for two weeks, as our band Devil Eyes is going out on the road. If you’re in Manhattan/Danbury/Brooklyn/Philadelphia/Baltimore/Lowell/Allston , come on out and rock with us! http://www.myspace.com/wehavedevileyes

  1. 10CCHow Dare You? (Philips, 1975)

Never really gave early 10CC a chance, but this album is totally nuts! Like Sparks duelling it out with Smiley Smile era Beach Boys . A whole heap of WTF awesome.

  2. Sam the Sham & The PharaohsLi’l Red Riding Hood (MGM, 1966)

Sam the Sham … so much more to this band than “Woolly Bully” … great crossover of frat rock and garage. Featuring his killer version of “Hanky Panky” and a cover photo featuring Sam sporting a huge moose toe.

  3. Otis Redding/Carla Thomas/Eddie Floyd/Sam & DaveStax/Volt Revue vol. 2 (Stax, 1967)

The list of artists says it all.. incredible comp of Memphis Soul, captured at it’s peak!

  4. The VenturesThe Guitar Genius of The Ventures (Sunset, 1967)

The Ventures at their gnarliest.. one of my fave tracks is on here too, “Rap City”.

  5. Ennio MorriconeThe Good, The Bad and the Ugly (United Artists, 1967)

“You see in this world there’s two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.”

  6. Nina HagenFearless (CBS, 1983)

Nina at her weirdo peak, featuring music by Giorgio Moroder and The Red Hot Chili Peppers ! What?

  7. AnthraxState of Euphoria (Island, 1988)

One of the most listened to cassettes of my youth, it’s such a treat to have this on vinyl. Every song on this release is a winner but “Antisocial” is the breakout hit..

  8. Tiny TimGod Bless Tiny Tim (Reprise, 1968)

Because I was so happy to find this in the bins, dude just GAVE me the record.. he was just happy someone knew how trippy and deeply strange Tiny Tim actually was. God Bless indeed.

  9. Various – Rap Trax 2 (Polytel, 1989)

Revisited some of the hits like “Buffalo Stance” and “Nightmare on my Street” only to discover they are actually pretty lame. Strangely, side two has some killer stuff by De La Soul , Slick Rick and Run DMC .

  10. AnthraxI’m The Man 12” single (Island, 1987)

Yup, Anthrax again.. this was such a funny tune (when I was 14!).. features a cover of “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” , on which I daresay Joey Belladonna outdoes Ozzy on vocals.
