Top 10 Random Radness
Some stuff that’s been tweaking my brain proper in the last week.
National Badema Du Mali – Nama
Found this on the amazing music blog Awesome Tapes from Africa . I think I listened to the first track three times in a row.. so hypnotic, raw and haunting.
Coil
Heard the terrible news this morning about Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson ‘ s passing. RIP. Coil opened up a lot of unexplored musical caves and took us along on their dark path, willing and loving followers all.
Crabe – Pénis-Céline
Montreal/Valleyfield’s awesomely fierce math-punk un-wave duo Crabe dropped their debut Ero Gaki on local label Signed By Force last month. Here’s a little taste of the sickness in the form of their video for “Pénis-Céline”.

UNIVOX – Conan
If there’s any scrap of taste left in the wider music listening audience, Philly’s UNIVOX’s debut album on ROIR will be treasured by generations as a sublime, ageless and transcendent album. The song “Conan” been in my head all week and as luck would have it, they’ve recently released a sweet video for it:
Trains
We are moving next week from our studio/home next to the railroad tracks. We’re sure gonna miss the sound of trains, one of my favorite soundscapes.
Memphis Minnie – Crazy Cryin’ Blues
Tennessee blueswoman Memphis Minnie can sure pick and sing, but this song in particular is one of her most haunting.
Old Time Relijun – Cold Water
Though a fan of Arrington Dionyso ‘s recent output, I still consider his band Old Time Relijun one of the deepest and ritualistically hypnotic rock bands ever. Stoked I got to see them live when I could!
Satan’s Youth Ministers – I Don’t Get Around
I can’t wait to get my hands on a proper release by this group of demons from north Alabama, but for now I content myself blasting their searing slabs of bloody garage off their myspace .

Old School Jungle
Some rips of old jungle cds I’d bought about 17 years ago find their way onto my ipod every now and then and every time i rock one of those old tunes I remember hearing jungle for the first time and how absolutely FUTURISTIC I found it.
Combine – Cattle My Rage
So… whatever happened to Virginia’s Combine? I think the world’s finally ready for them. They put out like one piece of genius in the mid 90s and disappeared. My favorite song is “Know Regrets” from ’96s History of American Rock n Roll, but the only onlive evidence I could find of this band was the video for Cattle My Rage, so here y’are:
