The Fall – “Blindness”
The Fall were accused of selling out for letting “Blindness” be used in a Mitsubishi Outlander commercial. Somebody responded by posting this live version. A rhetoric professor might not find that a valid response, but it’ll do.
Charles Gayle Trio – In concert at Bruges
Great free improvisation by New York’s best saxophonist.
Asobi Seksu – “Thursday”
Live at Joe’s Pub during their album release party.
Sex Pistols – “Anarchy in the U.K.”
In 1976, with Glen Matlock so you can actually hear the bass, unlike shows with Sid Vicious where he was turned down (or not even plugged in) to disguise his utter lack of bass-playing ability.
Captain Beefheart – David Letterman Show appearance
I saw this when it was originally broadcast. Dave seems like a fan; the Captain seems nervous.
Thelonious Monk Quartet – “Nutty”
My favorite jazzman in Paris in 1969.
Jennifer O’Connor – “Garden Dirt”
At Cake Shop last year, she plays a non-album song.
Melt-Banana – “Shield for your eyes, A Beast in the Well”
They really bring it in concert.
Iron Horse – “Fuel”
Tenacious D – “Classico”
A scene from The Pick of Destiny. I’m a sucker for rocking classical music.
