Chris McGregor’s Brotherhood of Breath – “MRA”
South African jazz at its finest.
Cledus T. Judd – “Man of Constant Borrow”
He makes me laugh, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
Wee – “Alone (Reprise)”
Obscure ’70s soul, ultra-slick, reissued on Asterisk.
Grateful Dead – “Good Lovin’”
To the extent that I like the Dead – I’m far from fanatical – it’s for either their country stuff or their freer and more psychedelic material. It sure ain’t for their mediocre covers such as this one from Dick’s Picks, Vol. 10.
Icicle Works – “Love Is a Wonderful Colour” (12”)
Ah, the ’80s.
Richard Lloyd – “Only Friend”
The album this is from, Radiant Monkey, is on my iTunes because I didn’t like it enough to buy it.
Talk Talk – “Life’s What You Make It” (Live)
Another lesser track. I like their later albums much better than stuff like this.
Neil Young – “Powderfinger”
An acoustic version from a concert bootleg titled Restless.
Death Cab for Cutie – “Bend to Squares”
I love every song on Something About Airplanes.
The Darkness – “Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time”
The best song on their second album.
