Shuffle
Miles Davis – “More”
Anybody who still thinks he didn’t have good technique should listen to him fly on this burner from a bootleg recorded at Birdland (6/2/51).
Crosby Stills Nash & Young – “Everybody’s Alone”
This Neil song hadn’t been officially released until this month on his new box, but I’d had it for several years in this different version on the inaccurately titled bootleg Studio Archives 1969. No harmony vocals though, alas.
Thalia Zedek Band – “Lower Allston”
I would listen to Ms. Zedek sing anything, I love her razorblades-and-Drano tone.
The Cinematic Orchestra – “Music Box”
From their absolutely beautiful album Ma Fleur.
Patterson Hood – “Murdering Oscar”
The title track from the first solo album by my favorite member of Drive By Truckers. Highly recommended.
Hisato Higuchi – “Guitar #4”
Low-key avant-gardism that requires close attention but rewards it fully.
Ruth Copeland – “Thanks for the Birthday Card”
A classic sobber. White British soul from a P-Funk associate. The Invictus sessions compilation this comes from is worth seeking out.
Bauhaus – “She’s in Parties” (Extended Mix)
It doesn’t get much more classic than this.
David E. Sugar – “Radioactivity”
From 8-bit Operators – A Tribute to the Music of Kraftwerk, which I enjoy more than the originals.
Gary Wright – “Dream Weaver”
What can I say, I’m a child of the ‘70s.
