British duo Wet Leg were originally scheduled at the much smaller Amsterdam Bar and Hall in St. Paul. The group’s catchy, timely, provocative, funny hits “Chaise Longue” and “Wet Leg” propelled an upgrade to the legendary First Avenue mainroom. Rhian Teasdale (lead vocals and rhythm guitar) and Hester Chambers (lead guitar and backing vocals) sometimes sung, sometimes spoken mash of new wave, surf and indie rock have stirred listeners with a series of singles so far. (As of this writing, their album release is still a month away.) Their third Single “Too Late Now” evokes, in a great way, Minneapolis band Coach Said Not To. Wet Leg’s first U.S. tour launched in Milwaukee, WI and travelled west to First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN for night two. The crowd was excited to witness a happening band on the way up. The duo expanded to a 5-piece rock group onstage and had the crowd riled up during the 16 song, almost 60 minute set.
